A map is not rendered in a browser for the property 'geoshape' with datatype 'Geographic shape' in a third-party Wikibase instance
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to reproduce

A reproducible example with LocalSettings.php and docker-compose.yml is shared at https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/RaiseWikibase#testing-all-datatypes.

Expectations

A map from Wikimedia Commons is rendered in a browser for the property 'geoshape' with datatype 'Geographic shape'.

What happens instead

A map from Wikimedia Commons is NOT rendered in a browser for the property 'geoshape' with datatype 'Geographic shape'. There is a link to a Wikimedia Commons map instead of an image of a map., see the picture:

Event Timeline

Hmm, https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/RaiseWikibase#testing-all-datatypes links to T271617 and T259868 already. How does this very task differ in scope? Or should this task depend on T259868 ?

Task T259868 refers to the datatype Globe coordinate as far as I understood the task. This task talks about the datatype Geographic shape. So I do not know whether the mechanisms of rendering maps in these two cases are the same. I doubt. Because geographic shapes provide a link to a map at Mediawiki Commons. The globe coordinates are just coordinates.

@RShigapov As per description of Wikibase Release Strategy (Wikibase 1.36 Release (wmde.4)) project/board (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/5645/), it is WMDE team's internal board. Please use do not tag general Wikibase issues with this tag. You could use Wikibase Release Strategy instead. Thank you

Sorry @WMDE-leszek, I haven't read the description of the board. I've added the "Wikibase Release Strategy" tags as you suggested.

I think this is expected, it doesn't display a map for geoshape statements in Wikidata either, unless you use some user script like ClaimMaps.js.
