Impact

Roughly 40-50 occurrences per day for last several weeks with occasional spikes.
Seems to be happening on both mobile and desktop versions of the site (more frequently on Mobile though).

Notes

"Unsupported time zone UTC" errors are getting thrown in the creationDate computed property of the Quickview component. This is probably an issue of inconsistent data from the underlying files themselves; if some files have specified a date format we can't currently handle, we'll need to rework the way "creationDate" is calculated or just not show it for problematic files.

Event Timeline

The plan is to not show the date for problematic files.

For "verify on production" – I think this will be a matter of checking the error logs as opposed to any user-facing behavior since this was hard/impossible to repro.

This is a reminder (to myself, mainly) to check that the error has actually stopped occurring once this patch is live on production.

Checked on commons wmf.15 - the error is not present anymore; checked on mediawiki-client-errors and mediawiki (filtered for commonswiki.
