[CONVERSATION] Have people been sharing URLs generated by topic subs?
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Topic subscriptions made it so that when people click/tap a new comment notification, they are taken to the specific part of the page where that comment exists. The comment is also highlighted.

To make the above work, a custom URL is generated.

The Editing Team has started using these "custom URLs" to share links to comment s and we are curious if volunteers are doing the same.

Question(s)

  • How – if at all – have volunteers been using the comment-specific URLs topic subscriptions generate? E.g. are they sharing them with others? If so, for what reason(s) and in what context(s)?

Done

  • We receive and document answers from volunteers across the movement about the ===Question(s) above.

Event Timeline

I’ve used them a few times to link to specific comments within the same section (example). I tried to use link texts that are understandable without the links working, even though I’m in the lucky position that the reply tool is already opt-out on huwiki, so the links work for everyone who hasn’t explicitly opted out.
