Publish on wiki the results for the number of wikis were translations are deleted more often than new articles
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

After completing the analysis to measure the number of wikis were translations are deleted more often than new articles (T286636#7345479), we want to publish the results on wiki.

This task is about publishing these results. As part of this task, some aspects need to be considered:

  • How to export the data to a wiki-friendly format.
  • Where to publish the results on wiki.
  • How to organize the information so that data for next periods can be added later.

Event Timeline

I've published the quarterly deletion ratio analysis results on the existing Deletion statistics comparison wiki page.

Below is a summary of updates I've made to the wiki page to accommodate this addition and allow for future updates:

  • Replaced the prior wiki table of monthly deletion ratios for representative wikis with a separate section and kept the link to the google spreadsheet with the results.
  • Added a "Wikis with higher deletion ratios for CX created articles" section, which includes the following:
    • A summary table that provides a comparison of key results for each quarter such as the number of wikis where the cx deletion ratios are higher than non-cx deletion ratios.
    • Detailed per wiki result tables for each quarter, including the deletion ratio data for each wiki identifed as having a higher cx deletion ratio
  • Included the analysis results from as well as new data I queried for the most recent quarter Q1 (July - September 2021). Please see the wiki page for these results. Note that Javanese Wikipedia had a signficantly high deletion ratio for articles created with CX (96.2%) compared to the non-CX deletion ratio (12%) in Q1, which might be worth investigating further.

I've set up a calendar reminder to update this page 1 month after the end of each quarter. This is to provide sufficient time for data availbility and for editors to review content.

@Pginer-WMF - Please let me know if you have any questions or suggested changes for how to organzie the information.

This is really great. It provides a good overview of the status as well as the specific communities that we may want to engage with to understand their issues. My only suggestion would be for the summary part to also follow a reverse chronological order like the detailed results below. In that way the most recent results would be on top in both cases.
Thanks for your work on this, @MNeisler.

Thanks @Pginer-WMF

I've revised the summary table on the mediawiki page to also follow reverse chronological order.

Resolving this task for now but happy to continue to iterate on the format as needed and during future updates.
