@Robert_Wilhelm_Land I'll un-assign this task from you, as we use it to know who is actively working on the ticket. You'll still be able to receive updates as a subscriber. Thank you so much for reporting this issue!

LGoto triaged this task as Low priority.Feb 28 2022, 7:43 PM
LGoto moved this task from Needs Triage to Bug Backlog on the Wikipedia-iOS-App-Backlog board.
LGoto added a project: iOS-app-feature-Saved.

I'm adding another report of this here, the latest update on an existing ticket where the user cannot access saved articles when offline.

  1. Can you send us some of the articles that are failing to save for you? Which Wikipedia language are they from?

German language
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eichelh%C3%A4her
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwarzstorch
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tannen
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichten
I‘ve just loaded these four online from my list of „saved“ articles, then switched my device offline, stopped and re-started the Wikipedia app, and only one of them is really saved. While loading an article online I see the growing progress bar until 100% like if the data would be downloading from the internet. If I re-open the same article right afterwards, the progress bar grows about to 50% then disappears, while the data are there.

  1. What language is your iOS device set to? You can see this in iOS Settings > Language and Region.

iPhone Language: German

  1. What is your iOS device model?

iPhone XS

  1. Are you logged into the app? (This isn't a requirement for saved articles, just curious).

No

  1. What are your settings in Wikipedia app Settings > Article storage and syncing? Do you have the "Sync saved articles and lists" enabled?

Switched off. I cannot switch it on unless creating an account and logging in. I‘d be happy to not create another account as I‘ve got already much too many ;-).

  1. On the Saved tab, do you see a yellow label that says "Article queued to be downloaded" on any of the saved articles?

No, I don‘t see that on any articles
