Reevaluate hiding of red links in article content
Open, LowPublic

Description

Currently we're stripping away red links (links to articles that don't yet exist) when displaying articles. The original years-old rationale for doing this was that the apps don't yet offer a way for a user to create a new article (T131284), therefore it's better to just hide red links altogether.

However, since we'd like to place more emphasis and awareness of editing in the app (even if the actual edit doesn't take place in the app), we may want to consider no longer stripping away red links. If the user taps on a red link, we can bounce them out to mobile web, as we already do in certain other cases.

(This would be fixed at the Content Service level, but tagging Apps teams first for discussion.)

Note from sync: red links should show in both articles and talk pages.

This would be wonderful. It's disconcerting to see a list with many redlinks in mobileweb have none in appview, I usually have to doublecheck that I'm on the same page before remembering the issue.
