Migrate to a new developer account
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

My main developer account (shell username neilpquinn-wmf) has my old name. Since it's not possible to rename developer accounts, I have registered a new one (shell username nshahquinn-wmf). I need to migrate all my privileges to this one.

Miscellaneous tasks not covered by subtasks:

  • Clean up neilpquinn and nshahquinn Hive databases
  • Clean up HDFS folders
  • checked membership in the anaytics_product group
  • carried over Gerrit permissions

Event Timeline

nshahquinn-wmf created this task.

I actually want separate work and personal developer accounts, but there's currently a policy against it. I've asked for an exception.

I did already register the personal account, but that got a bit messed up since I initially used the same email as my current developer account. I will need to ask for support on that.

Yesterday and today, I:

  • copied over everything from my old home folder on stat1005 to my new one
  • verified that I can use Jupyter with the new account and ran the Wikistories basic stats notebook as a test
  • tested out Superset and found some issues (T339385)
  • checked and deleted everything from Hive database (neilpquinn), then dropped the database
  • checked and deleted everything from my HDFS home folder (I didn't delete the folder itself since I don't have the rights)

Hmm, seems like I can't log into Gerrit?

Hmm, seems like I can't log into Gerrit?

It was an email address conflict. I've sorted it out, and I'll be able to use Gerrit when necessary.

Everything here is done except for T339385 and the locking of my old access once that task is resolved.

I've migrated everything to the new account and given folks the go-ahead to lock my old account.
