As a WMF team in need of newcomer feedback, I want the ability to contact newly created account holders, because then we can learn more about new account holder needs and develop features that work better for them.

Background:

The WMF Design Strategy team would like to enable an opt-in checkbox on the Welcome Survey to allow newly-registered, email-providing users to consent to being contacted for design research recruitment.

Disclaimer:

• Designs should have a link to a privacy statement.

• We may want to provide a concise tooltip near the checkbox to explain the purpose of future research contact. For example:

"If you opt in, we may contact you in the future for research studies to improve our services. See our privacy statement for further details."

Location:

• It should be the last item on the welcome survey.
• The checkbox should appear for all users regardless of whether they have entered an email address (this requirement is for simplicity, but we would ideally want it to appear only if the user has entered an email.)

Platforms:

• Desktop and mobile

Acceptance Criteria:

• Welcome survey designs showing where the checkbox should be located
• Final copy for checkbox (and any info pop-up associated with the checkbox)
• Design includes a link to privacy statement.
