native: Rendering error in powers and indices

Description

I'm using Chrome on Ubuntu 22.04.

The TeX code \sigma_a^2 is not rendered correctly, see the picture:

I'm not sure, maybe it is connected to T351850.

On the native test page, only {}_1^2\!\Omega_3^4 looks odd. The rest is ok.
