User stories:
As reader I want to be able to see sub-reference footnote numbers in my local language numbering style.
As reader I want to be able to match the sub-reference numbers from the footnotes in the article with the corresponding line in the references section.
Background:
This affects different aspects of the numbering in the Cite extension.
- How footnote numbers are rendered in Wikitext legacy and Parsoid
- How the numbers in the references section are rendered legacy and Parsoid
- Custom groups that can have custom number styles set
We're currently working on a numbering variant for sub-references that will be presented to the readers as.
