Technical Exploration: Making lists global and Localizing campaign/event names
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Context

As the team continues to explore the hypothesis around T368718, we imagine a future where lists are universal/ shareable. For example, if there's an active translation campaign/event happening on Igbo Wikipedia targeting Women's health and is listed on the Content Translation tool, this list can be presented to all editors regardless of the language wiki under the Community List section.

  • For this to work properly, we would have to localize event/campaign names and other event metadata on the UI; as presented here T368718.
  • In terms of ordering on the Community lists UI, campaign/event lists originating from the select wiki are listed higher against those that came from other wikis/projects.
Product Assumptions:
  1. Other communities/ editors could find lists already curated by others useful to translate into their wiki. We imagine this could have a ripple effect on:

-> Increasing the discoverability and collaboration towards content gaps.
-> Reducing the overhead on organizers towards finding the right content to work on and inviting the right editors to participate.
