Have MediaViewer display the most restrictive license in many cases (or multi-license files).
Open, LowPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
MediaViewer is generally great, but it occasionally gives semi-incorrect license information on multi-licensed files. An example is below.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
The at-a-glance license is quite useful for assessing a file's ability to be used offwiki, and having it display something different could lead to copyright infringement

  • For example, photographs of old coins whose designs are in the PD are still themselves copyrightable due to the effort undertaken in photographing them, and MediaViewer should reflect that so as not to confuse potential file reusers

Event Timeline

True multi-licensing (a file is available under multiple licenses with the reuser able to choose which) is also a thing, though. I think it would be safer to, if MediaViewer detects multiple licenses, not to guess and just direct the user to the file page.
