Watchlist in mobile version
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello
I will try to explain my problem the most easiest way :

1 - I connect to fr.m.wikipedia.org with my smartphone
2- I go to my watchlist and then I visit the listed pages
2- I go to fr.wikipedia.org using a PC.

The problem is that none of the pages I have visited by my smartphone is marked as visited. The pages have not been edited since I visited them by my smartphone.

Thanks. Sorry for my english.

Hi here's the information :

In my PC I use Firefox 25. It's the same problem in Internet Explorer 8
In my mobile I use Boat Browser 6.0.1

1 - I connect to fr.m.wikipedia.org with my smartphone
2- I go to my watchlist and then I visit the listed pages
3- I connect to fr.wikipedia.org using a PC.
4- I go to my watchlist
The pages I have visited are not marked as visited in my watchlist.

rabahmeradi: How are pages "marked as visited" exactly in your browser?
Do you refer to a change in the color of the link?

Pages are marked as visited are in Gras.
I made a screenshot here : http://postimg.org/image/yspwjixjn/
We see that Ubuntu is not marked as visited but Saison 3 de Community is marked as visited.

He is referring to the mark as visited that corresponds to wl_timestamp in the db. On most wikis this corresponds to bolding (and extra text in the history view), but some wikis do it with different stylistic devices via css.

rabahmeradi, the functionality you describe on the desktop version of the site is not something that is part of mediawiki core - as far as i can tell, it is something provided by the specific project(s) either by some custom css, a gadget, or an extension. whatever provides the behavior will need to be extended to support the mobile version of watchlists. does anyone know specifically what causes the behavior on desktop on projects like frwiki? whoever maintains that should be contacted with this feature request.

i am marking this as resolved/invalid as what is being requested is beyond the scope of this product/component and i don't think the product/component this issue relates to is tracked in bugzilla.wikimedia.org.

No its not. This is part of core.

Brion then this bug is not clear. If you are going to reopen this please at least provide more details to clarify this misunderstanding. Thank you.

"Mark as visited" is a default feature that's killed on en.wp by default by some stupid gadget they thought up. Just disable it or visit some other wiki and you'll see it.

Hence comment 3. Are you looking for the specific line numbers where the feature is implemented?

Bearing in mind I've never used this feature before: So I see a button at the top of the page saying "Mark all as visited" at the top of the watchlist. I click it and nothing happens and there is no visual feedback about what I've done. I can't see anything different with my screen.

Although from what you are describing it sounds like bug 52495 ?

Yes that's the same bug.
