Enable VisualEditor as Beta Feature on Wikimedia Commons
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Please enable VisualEditor as a Beta Feature on Wikimedia Commons, not enabled by default.

Beta features are (as far as I know) completely harmless so I do not think a community discussion is necessary but I would be happy to start one if necessary.

I will post a heads-up on this on Wikimedia Commons village pump.

James told me that by default VE will be active for File, Category, User and main (gallery) namespaces.

Please enable it for Creator: and Institution: too, as pages in these NS use one template, respectively {{Creator}} & {{Institution}}. With TemplateData on them it will be very convenient to use VE to edit them.

Column Prototype
This is a very early prototype of a persistent column. It is not expected to work yet, and leaving it open will activate other new features which will break things. Press "\" (backslash) on your keyboard to close it now.
