Seeing that all the diffs above are from the same user, I checked the contributions of this user, and sure enough, here is another one and another one and I didn't check everything.
I don't know what HTML Parsoid got from VE, but if there is a way of checking in with the user about their edits (is there some browser extension that interacted badly with VE? .. did they try to enter wikitext?), it might help figuring out this mystery.

The user seems to have gone inactive (no edits for two months). Nothing odd about their browser itself, but perhaps an oddity from a browser plugin, yeah. I'll close as fixed for now.
