Please add the content translation beta feature to Wikinews, at least English and Russian where I can read feedback and follow it up, as soon as possible. It is important for this project to get the articles translated right away while they are still fresh and the Content translation tool would have a high impact.

Thanks for filing the request. We do have plans to extend to other wikis, but no dates at the moment as we are a little short of staff and are moving with 3 month plans. We will surely let you know when we are ready to explore Wikinews. Its quite possible we will have to deal with specifics for individual wikis which have to be worked into Content Translation's current work flow. Runab WMF, I believe that the staff load from feature in opt-in mode is not very high. You can put up an 'alpha' label if you like.
I would like to help you test the feature at Wikinews early. If there is a way to enable it just for me personally, please let me know. I would like to see Wikinews way earlier than Wikipedia in this project. It needs this feature more than any other sister projects. Thank you.
I would like to remark that Wikinews will have very little differences from Wikipedia. Articles are treated as a whole and correspond to each-other in a straightforward way. There may be a few templates to add (i.e. "this page was translated from the other wiki" template in the sources section), but I am sure that this is also needed at Wikipedias. Structurally and functionally, Wikinews and Wikipedia need a very similar -- identical -- feature set from the content translation program.

Tag Wikinews bug reports with a Wikinews tag and prioritize them accordingly. I am sure such bug reports would help you develop your program in a flexible way so that deploying it to other wikis is easier in the long-term.

If you need a beta Wikinews to start, I highly recommend the Esperanto Wikinews, we translated a huge part of the news, principally from Spanish and English Wikinews, but also from Catalan, French, etc.
