This seems to affect a number of different URLs with usernames with numbers in them. E.g. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:01tonythomas redirects to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:1tonythomas.

Per T117476 it breaks login as well.

Will take a look.

I think this was caused by the patch for T97897. reverted.

Looks like working fine to me now.

Well, I clearly cannot reproduce it locally then. Unassigning myself from this.
