Access needed to mwui.wmflabs.org
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I (Volker_E) need access to https://mwui.wmflabs.org/
Currently the website returns '500' on its index page. And as part of the UI Standardization team, we still need to take care about mediawiki.UI

@Prtksxna and myself tried to find the correct instance, it could be
https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Mwui.editor-engagement.eqiad.wmflabs
Although we were wondering about it being part of Editor Engagement.

https://mwui.wmflabs.org/ is indeed served by the instance mwui, so you should contact one of the project admins listed at the project page to give you what you need.

(For reference: I checked that mwui.wmflabs.org has the public IP of novaproxy-01, logged in there, redis-cli, SRANDMEMBER "frontend:mwui.wmflabs.org", "http://mwui.eqiad.wmflabs:80", verified that the private IPs of mwui.eqiad.wmflabs and mwui.editor-engagement.eqiad.wmflabs are the same.)

@kaldari @Mattflaschen @Halfak, could one of you put me on the admin list for the reasons outlined above. Or probably better, would you mind if this instance goes under Design? (In my naive thinking that should be easily possible)

Moving an instance is non-trivial. You could always start up a new instance within the design project.

Long term, it looks the editor-engagement project is a bit of a monster and should probably be broken up. In the short term, I think that making you an admin makes sense. What is your wikitech username, @Volker_E?

@Halfak Thanks for clarifying. Isn't the LDAP user needed here?

Nope. Wikitech works just fine. We administer these things via the wiki. You've been added and should be able to connect after the next puppet run... I think :)

The wikitech.wikimedia.org username is the (public) LDAP username.

Your login username on wikitech.wikimedia.org (cn) is distinct from the shell username you use to log into labs instances and gerrit (uid). In your case:
uid: volker-e
cn: VolkerE

Yes, the editor engagement project is a big monster and must die. If it is easy, please just setup a new instance in the design project instead.
