User story
As a reader unfamiliar with adding or editing wikidata descriptions, I would like to easily access copywriting tips when I come across an article that requires a new title description to be added in the Android app.
Problem
Currently, the extensive Wikidata guidelines are only linked out from the Help screen when the user is in the middle of adding/editing the title description, which users do not typically know/desire to tap on since they are already in help.
Behavior observed in initial user testing in Feb 2017
Proposed solution
Incorporate more important high level copyrighting "do's and don'ts" on the Help screen itself under the section "Tips for creating descriptions".
Suggested additional guidelines (based on the original Wikidata guidelines content - Note: the following itemizes tips proposed to be added to Help, but more copy needs to be added and refined :
Language independent tips
- Avoid information that is likely to change
- Avoid opinionated, biased or promotional wording
- Avoid controversial claims
Additional guidelines for English (some of which are also applicable for other languages)
- Keep it short
- Common formula
- Capitalization
- Punctuation
- No initial articles (a, an, the)
- Go from more specific to less specific
