Description

This task will track the receiving, setup, and installation of two new labcontrol servers, labcontrol1003 and labcontrol1004, ordered on T163031.

Racking Proposal: This system has to be in a labs-support vlan. In eqiad, those vlans are only setup in rows A and C, so this has to rack in either row A or row C.

labcontrol1003:

  • - receive in system on T163808
  • - rack system with proposed racking plan (see above) & update racktables (include all system info plus location)
  • - bios/drac/serial setup/testing
  • - mgmt dns entries added for both asset tag and hostname
  • - production dns entries added (labs-support subnet)
  • - network port setup (description, enable, labs-support vlan)
    • end on-site specific steps (can re-assign to @RobH for remainder)
  • - operations/puppet update (install_server at minimum, other files if possible)
  • - OS installation
  • - puppet/salt accept/initial run
  • - handoff for service implementation

Please note that once the initial onsite-specific steps are done (steps up do the network port setup), I can handle the operations/puppet repo updates and install the OS steps onward. (Chris has a LOT of incoming hardware, so trying to do all remote steps on his behalf.)

This does indeed need hardware raid setup, please setup in a large raid10 of all disks via crash cart, then I can install.

Also, this seems a bit confusing, the task says labmon1002 in the title, but labcontrol1003 (and labcontrol1004) in the task description. Just to confirm, this is ONLY for labmon1002, correct? (Your patchsets state labmon1002, but I wanted to make sure.)

@RobH I must've confused this with one of the other lab servers..no controller card present on labmon1002.....only 4 disk couldn't do a Raid10 if we wanted to.
