I'm not sure of what you mean by signing ? editing ? VE was not designed to be used in talk pages and other places where signatures are present. But since it's a Project NS I suppose that it's ok.

This block @Framawiki is to enable the namespace.

I guess what they want is a signing icon.

Sorry for being unclear in the request. VisualEditor is already active in the namespace, what we wish is for the signing icon to be activated for this namespace.

Specifically we have a big table where volunteers sign for equipment but since the sign button is deactivated they are forced to use wikitext to add themselves to the list.

Are there any updates on this?
