Description

Why are we doing this?

We want to better support multilingual users when performing a search (30.4% / 1.4M users have set multiple languages).

Problem

If users perform a search that leads to 0 results in their active search language AND there are results in other languages, they’re currently not informed about it.

Solution

Indicate to users that there are results in their other languages.

Analytics Questions
  • In what percentage of searches is there no result in the main language?
  • In what % of cases do users then view the alternate results?

@cooltey

01) When users have set multiple languages and there are no results in all languages → use designs below (according to the specs)

02) I tested in with a search term that leads to results in German but not in English: meitschibein (delicious Swiss pastry). It did not indicate that there are results in German in this case, see this video:

Looks like we should use the prefix search as well. Done.
