Some tools we are going to use support conversion of molfiles to SMILES and InChI. These are very small (compared to the input file, less than 1/15, and the input mol files are usually also small) chunks of data that can be possibly later used for searching purposes (e.g. "Give me all substances that are carboxylic acids and in category:y")

I am not sure whether we will be ever able to support the whole chemical stuff, seeing even basic math formulae broken. So: Not sure. OTOH, for other entities than WMF it might have some merit.
