Create time expiry settings for Special:EditWatchlist (desktop; mobile, advanced setting)
Open, Stalled, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

Right now, the only option in Special:EditWatchlist is removing a page completely from a user watchlist. Furthermore, I found de-watching and then re-watching a page (i.e. clicking a full blue star, re-clicking a star and then converting it to a half-star) just to set (or extend) expiry time more annoying. Have adding time expiry settings to "Special:EditWatchlist" been considered yet? That would make "Special:EditWatchlist" easier to use.

By the way, this applies to desktop view and advanced mobile view. I wouldn't extend this request to normal mobile view yet.

Hello, @gh87! There are two more ways to edit the watch period. You can edit the page with the source editor & change the watch period upon saving. You don't need to actually make an edit to change the watch period. Additionally, you can access the action=watch version of a page, where you can also modify the watch period.

As a team, we have to work on many different projects. The Watchlist Expiry project was very large and complex, and we implemented 3 ways to watch/unwatch pages. While we understand that the feature can be further enhanced, we also need to direct attention to other projects now. If you want the feature to be worked on some more, we suggest you check out the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey, where there is one wish to further enhance the feature. Thanks!

The action=watch url is more convenient than the other (editing source) method honestly. However, I have to go from page to page to implement the time expiry change on every individual article, which annoys me more.

BTW, the proposal phase of 2021 survey is already over, so I'll propose it next year then if I'm willing to.

Special:EditWatchlist is already too slow as it is. We cannot add more form elements to it until some kind of pagination is in place, see T41510. Another option is T34151.

Removing Growth-Team as a courtesy. This solely has to do with Expiring-Watchlist-Items. However the subtasks are Growth-related.
