Evaluate existing tools made to assist relevancy work
Open, HighPublic

Description

As a search engineer I want to know the set of available tools so that I can decide which ones are more adapted to my needs and possibly deprecate some of the tools written in relevancyForge.

Family of tools and few examples:

Aspects to evaluate:

  • ability to customize search integration: how is it to integrate a new search subsystem?
  • ability to store data and manage history (compare performance overtime)
  • UX: UI, multi-tenancy

AC:

  • produce a comprehensive list of tools with a description of their features

MPhamWMF moved this task from needs triage to elastic / cirrus on the Discovery-Search board.

This might be more of a team effort than something assigned to one person. It might also be a good time to improve, document, and share other tools that we individually have laying around. (For example, I have a few shell scripts that make working with vagrant easier. I've shared some with Maryum, but not with everyone else.)

Any progress on this?

Unfortunately no, this work was put on hold for now. I doubt that we will come back to it before 2022. If you have new requirements/thoughts/plans please don't forget to record them either here or T268653. Thanks!
