perhaps wikimedia-vcs (so it doesn't matter what vcs is used now or in the future (cvs is just historical since we can't rename))

"wikimedia repo"? Also, bug 19958 wants us to rename MediaWiki-CVS to MediaWiki-commits, so we'd probably want to name it that.
What is the difference between the Wikimedia repo and the MediaWiki repo?

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/Wikimedia
wikimedia-commits would be fine if we're possibly renaming.
As for the difference, I'm not quite sure. Even though it's public, it's for more wikimedia specific stuff I think
This was at Arthurs request btw :)

/ = root of svn[1]
/mediawiki/ = where the normal mediawiki dev + extras take place[2] (what the
current mailing list handles)
/wikimedia/ = some wmf specific stuff[3]

reedy and p858snake are correct - the wikimedia repo was set up to keep track of wmf-related stuff that is not mediawiki-related. for instance, we keep fundraising-related scripts/tools/etc in the wikimedia repo (with the exception of fundraising-related mediawiki extensions).

I imagine archiving should be disabled, just like on mediawiki-cvs.
Looks like Casey did it at setup
