Option to redirect talk pages of translated pages to source content's talk page
Open, MediumPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
Option to have redirects (to source page's talk page) created for talk pages of pages which are translated using Translate extension.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
For example, on Governance Wiki, we are really only setup to actively monitor the English talk pages for policies, resolutions, board minutes, etc. As we increase the number of translations on the site, there will be a growing number of likely unmonitored (or at least difficult today to monitor) talk pages. Having them redirect to the main English page's talk page would be more ideal. This is also true for pages we are creating on Meta-Wiki. In both places, potential number of "orphaned" talk pages can reach hundreds for one page.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
Right now, each translated page has its own unique talk page. In some cases, that may be ideal. However, in a growing number of cases, this creates a lot of talk pages to try and monitor and lots of opportunities for people posting a comment and it being overlooked accidentally. While the comment may not be in the source page's language, there are methods we already utilize to handle those situations - which are more commonly in usage on one talk page vs. a talk page for each language.
