Feature summary:
Provide an easy way to copy a page's URL (or just Page-Title) that automagically includes the Special:MyLanguage/ string, to encourage/assist everyone to distribute links with this parameter.
Use case(s):
- As someone who prefers a non-default (usually English) language, I want people to more frequently share links with me that include the Special:MyLanguage/ string.
- As someone who wants to share a link to a translated page, I want something better than having to remember to manually type Special:MyLanguage/ into the URL-bar (pre-copy) or the pasted link.
Benefits:
- To encourage and assist people in sending (and receiving) the most appropriate link
Example:
- If I want to share a link to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Tables#Alignment
- Then I want an easy way to get either of these text strings into my clipboard:
- Special:MyLanguage/Help:Tables#Alignment
- https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Help:Tables#Alignment
- Then I want an easy way to get either of these text strings into my clipboard:
Proposed solution(s):
- Perhaps a new UI button?
- Perhaps just a gadget that adds a new UI button?
- Perhaps integrated with the solution for T18691: RFC: Section header "share" link?
