Reproduced on both Android 2.3.4 and Chrome:
When I type into the search box and press "Enter", I'd like to see view top search result that's currently displayed.
Instead, nothing happens.

(Actually, what happens is that it fires another opensearch API query with the contents of the search field.)
Evidence now shows that users actually expect pressing enter to perform a full text search

The Search button on the keyboard is currently the only explicit way of invoking full-text search. Therefore, that button should be used for that purpose. It does sound like full-text search was broken before this change was made, given that Erik's original request indicates nothing happened upon pressing enter/search.
We should discuss on bug 36679
To avoid confusion the search button is the same as the enter button
