VisualEditor: Copying text causes browser to scroll to the top of the page and move the cursor to the top in Safari
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a long page in Safari 6.2 (maybe others?)
  1. Scroll down a ways and select some text.
  1. Copy (Command-C) that text.

Results:

After a brief delay (one second?), the page scrolls all the way to the top. The cursor is located at the very beginning of the page. (The text is correctly copied.)

Event Timeline

Update: As of July 2015, this is still happening in Safari 8.0 on Mac 10.10

However, instead of scrolling all the way to the top of the page, it scrolls until the selected/copied text is at the very bottom of the screen.
