Yes, please. @Anomie and I can help with getting the new guidelines broadcasted out to bot developers, library maintainers and other members of the larger Action API usage community.

I take it that the request from Analytics is that the User-Agent strings have WikimediaBot in them somewhere?

I see that the user-agent policy was updated by an IP address.

Is wikitech-l going to be notified of this change?

@jayvdb Yes, we'll send an email to wikitech-l.

@bd808 I'd like to reach out to bot/framework maintainers and ask them to implement the optional improvement ('bot') of the User-Agent policy. Can you help me with that?

Emails to wikitech-l and api-announce are probably the best broadcast channels. We can probably get @Anomie to send the api-announce email based on whatever info you send to wikitech-l. Once we get T108618: Publish detailed Action API request information to Hadoop working (or even before via existing web_request lookups) we could ping high volume action api users who haven't implemented the keyword yet.

Thanks @bd808
I'll write the email to wikitech-l and let you and @Anomie know for the api-announce email and pinging high volume api users.
