Recurring checks for Citoid's status
Closed, ResolvedPublic8 Estimated Story Points

Description

T93800 caused Citoid to be missing from 3 big wikis yesterday.
While there has been some progress investigating the issue, I believe that until we find a solution, checking on the 17 wikis which have it enabled should be done at least once daily.
I'll try to update this task accordingly, and if one day I can't do it, anybody can actually do that on my behalf: it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes, after the first time.

Instructions:

  • click on each link;
  • check the "Cite" button in the toolbar, it must look like this (the word may appear in local language of course);
  • now if it doesn't look like in the pic, and if clicking on it the former Cite pulldown menu appears, rather than the current dialog, please alert VE people;
    • ping Krinkle, James F. in #mediawiki-visualeditor;
    • if you don't get any reply in some minutes, please report the outage at T93800;
    • if you still don't hear from anyone after a few mins, feel free to apply the workaround explained at the top of that task.

Please report below every time you perform the check. Thanks for your support ;)
FYI, James F. finds reasonable checks made after MediaWiki train deployments.

Everything looks fine.

Well, thanks @Josve05a! If you want to specify time and date manually, please also add a timezone :)

Everything's ok (I was just surprised by T110134!).

Just checked, all clear. There's a deployment later today though (https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deployments#Tuesday.2C.C2.A0September.C2.A001), if anybody plans to be around then.

BTW why isn't the link https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random?veaction=edit working properly? (Every 1/2 times it doesn't open VE...just odd...)

Seems to be working here. 19:37 1 September (UTC+2) (also see timestamp of this message for whatever that time is set to...)

Citoid's still where it's supposed to be.

https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random?veaction=edit yet again linked to https://nl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mesitius_szaboi&veaction=edit&redirect=no which didn't open VE. Odd. ANyways, for all you who has this on an RSS-feed or something, everything is still a-o-k. (OK).

We just pushed out a patch which will hopefully cover over this issue whilst we find out the cause, so theoretically these checks won't be needed in future.

Check all of these briefly; none were broken.

So the change is already live on Wikipedias? If so, I might declare this task tentatively closed.

Yeah, a whole week with no further issues.
