Deploy InternetArchiveBot on the Swedish Wikipedia (svwiki)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The Swedish Wikipedia is the second largest Wikipedia, with just over 3 million articles. This should be the second wiki to be deployed to.

Event Timeline

With the English Wikipedia now seemingly in stable operation, the extension to support this can be built as a next step. We should then seek community approval. Since I have cross wiki experience in seeking bot approval, I can take up this task.

The extension should be fairly simple, then enwiki extension can be copied and then modified accordingly to properly support the Swedish Wikipedia. The behavior will then be identical. I assume this would be a good first step.

@Cyberpower678 What do you say to getting some community consensus for this first? It makes sense to at least start a discussion on the Village Pump, giving a brief about what this bot is going to do.

After 30 days it's safe to say we have a consensus to run this bot on the Swedish Wikipedia.

Hey @Cyberpower678 , Whats the status on deploying to Swedish? Was in a meeting with one of our IA contacts, and @Ocaasi_WMF and I want to make sure we have the right information on hand.

It's ready to be tested code wise, but the wiki configuration still needs setting up, and before that, I want to get the documentation and FaQ onto meta with translation tags so this can be internationalized.

Ah good, let us know if we can help.

There actually is something. As part of the v1.3 update that I'm going to release that adds support to svwiki, I want to deploy some webapps that allow users to help manage the data in the DB. I think these apps will be vital before deploying the bot to svwiki. I'm already starting to see a need for them on enwiki.

The first webapp functionality I want to introduce is the ability to adjust the URL live state from the interface. This is so users can reset the state in the event it get's misflagged as dead. I'm currently working on the backend logic of this said interface, but could use someone to help with the frontend. I'd like to use a bootstrap interface, with a header bar at the top. This interface will use OAuth. I'm testing the module right now as we speak.

This is happening now. The bot is expected to be deployed over the next few days.
