Currently this ticket collects questions/Todos / insights of things we should discuss and solve before working on the actual wish
Questions
- Is it still possible to upload images to Wikipedia? I.e. is this a wish to "clean up" past behavior or is it a recurring thing?
- If yes, what are the advantages to upload an image to Wikipedia and not to commons?
- What is the motivation of moving files to commons and in which form should it be solved?
Insights
- Not all images can just be moved to commons: There seem to be some images protected under laws that prohibit putting it under a CC licence, but allowing it to be used on Wikipedia, such as https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:DFB-Pokal-Bildmarke_2010.svg
- We should be aware that an automatic move tool might be used to vandalizing purposes, too.
- Concerns two (three) histories: file description history, file history, binary file itself (all versions)
- Currently, there seem to be 115.000 images as priority candidates on en-wiki to be moved to commons. There are 260.000 images in total which should be moved
