@Catrope That could be still 2x PNGs that are scaled down then?! The file size shouldn't be a huge difference.

Yeah, we can put in 60x60px PNGs scaled to 30x30, that shouldn't be an issue.

That's from my experience a quite good compromise that also works not only on 1.25+ pixel ratio screens, but 2.25+ ones.
I've just learnt that the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the smartphone with the highest pixel density currently available with a 4K display and 801 dpi. QA would be very welcome in trying out the technical solution we gonna go for, if not possible to rely on vector images.

@Catrope *much bigger. As long as we can't use SVGs, it is desirable from a Design perspective to offer a high density, crisp looking PNG (and if needed scale it down) when the difference are just a few bytes. Especially when it's the Wikipedia logo.
So I reconsidered my first reaction to this and would go for a 4x PNG.
