Friends, I'm trying to coax the new letter into the templatized and translatable form and have a question about the bold paragraphs. We send emails with both an HTML and a plaintext body, with the latter created using automatic Html->Text conversion.
Would you like us to do anything to emphasize those paragraphs in the text-only body? For example, ALL CAPS, or ***Something silly such as leading asterisks?
Since it's pretty late tonight, I'm going to make the call to keep it plain text with no caps, asterisks or the like. We can edit this later.
Very minor question along the same lines--there's an em dash in the letter, here are our options:
HTML | text-only | comments |
"—" | "—" | Will look more like a hyphen in monospaced email readers. |
"—" | "--" | |
"--" | "--" | |
Sorry to be pedantic...
Here's the templatized version for final review: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/Translation/Thank_you_email_20161128
Note that there is conditional text that might appear in special cases, for example the "UnrecordedCharge" block. Let us know if those blocks should be moved to improve readability when they're present.
Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to get the changes deployed safely tonight. We'll revisit the deployment tomorrow.
