VisualEditor/NWE do not allow you to expand dropdowns in page notice

Description

I'm sure there is a ticket for this already, sorry I could not find it...

The green and blue boxes in the flyout are actually dropdowns. I have to manually browse to the page notice to see their content.

Event Timeline

I want to reiterate what I explained in T176070:

In my opinion this flyout dialog is too small as it is, and disrupts the way many of our edit/page notices are designed. Many of them convey important information (Newarticletext-unconfirmed, for example) which becomes difficult to read or completely illegible in this tiny box.

It'd be great if these could instead be shown where they are in the legacy editor (full-width atop the edit window), but have VE/NWE animate down to reveal them. I say this because I do love the way VE/NWE beautifully animates the heading of a page and it's content into an editor, and from a UI standpoint I understand using the normal layout of edit notices/logs would compromise this experience.

May I solicit some commentary on this issue?

The problem here is that we aren't firing the wikipage.content hook.

Change 387439 had a related patch set uploaded (by Esanders; owner: Esanders):

This specific problem is solved, but the bigger question remains.
