Let's move VisualEditor's 2017 wikitext mode out of Beta Features on office.wiki. Users should still be able to opt-out if they want, from the regular Special:Preferences section.

Which setting is this? Can one disable NWE but keep VE?

[operations/mediawiki-config@master] 2017 wikitext editor: Enable by default on officewiki
Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-operations) [2018-03-08T14:26:22Z] <zfilipin@tin> Synchronized wmf-config/InitialiseSettings.php: SWAT: [[gerrit:413653|2017 wikitext editor: Enable by default on officewiki (T188028)]] (duration: 01m 16s)
For anyone writing documentation or trying to find out what it looks like, the system message in Prefs can be seen at [[MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-newwikitexteditor-enable]] ("Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor." in English).
In your editing preferences, deselect "Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor."
I'd appreciate your feedback on why you are disabling it, if you could give it. Is there something that isn't working, or could work better? :-)
Thanks, that did it.
I find the traditional mode easier to use and less distracting.
I don't get all the icons around it, it doesn't have the loading progress bar at the beginning because it doesn't need scripts and it's more obvious to me when i'm actually in edit mode.
