Create a component project for the EditAccount extension
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Please create a component project "MediaWiki-extensions-EditAccount" for https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EditAccount

Thx!

Event Timeline

@planetenxin: Hi, are you a (co-)maintainer of that extension, and/or did the maintainers agree with this?
We do not want to create [more] feedback places which would give bug reporters a wrong expectation if maintainers are not even aware of these places.

@Aklapper no this was not yet communicated to the maintainers. I want to report issues and contribute. @CCicalese_WMF recommended to request a component project to have things tagged properly. Folow advice on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Developing_extensions#Providing_support_/_collaboration

It is, indeed, best to check with the maintainer of the extension first to be sure they want to use Phabricator to receive issue reports. I should have included that step in my original response. I did note that the extension maintainer would not automatically be notified of tasks so would need to be subscribed.

I'm fine making the maintainers members of the Phab project to create, it's just that I'd like to see a "Yes" from a maintainer as there might be already a place where maintainers track bugs that we're not aware of (don't know). :)

I think we need a reply from @ashley here if this is wanted

EditAccount doesn't currently support AuthManager (T135264) and is bascially abandonware at this point. Given that and the fact that EditUser exists, I think it'd make more sense to update EditUser to support whatever EditAccount currently has that EditUser doesn't (I guess the "this account has been disabled" banner is one such feature?) and archive EditAccount altogether.

@ashley: Thanks for chiming in! Should this be reflected on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EditAccount and its 'status' be changed?

@ashley: Could you reply to my last question please?
