Will there still be pages with content in the education program namespaces? Typically we don't want to make any content that exists (but is perhaps archived/uneditable/etc) unfindable.

As to implementation, wherever the code lives that defines these namespaces should also attach to the SearchableNamespaces hook and remove it's namespace from the list. That will remove the namespace from the UI.

The config UserEducationProgram is true for hewiki so I guess it must first be disabled.

The education extension is actually no longer used in any wiki (see T125618). In some wikis, however, the namespaces were not removed, as there were still pages there, e.g. as archives. However, the namespaces should of course be removed if there are no more pages in them (e.g. requested here: T282112).

Personally, however, I also have to say that I don't think the term $wmgUseEducationProgram is particularly good, as it implies that the extension is activated. However, this is not the case, only the namespaces 446 (Education Program) and 447 (Education Program talk) are defined and that's it (see https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/plugins/gitiles/operations/mediawiki-config/+/9939edb27f8a43def7fefe1eae734b078dea003a/wmf-config/CommonSettings.php#3063).

In some wikis, however, the namespaces were not removed, as there were still pages there, e.g. as archives.

There are some pages left and these should be deleted or moved to another namespace first.
