The page should be moved to Commons and perhaps expanded with a section on OpenRefine for bulk uploads? We have a learning module for Wikimedia Commons that is based on (and linked to) the knowledge of this materal.

That might be possible. Did you compare existing resources on Wikimedia Commons and Meta and what this page would add? Is there such a review available that could be shared here?

Considering how much time has gone since the guidebook was written, if it's to be translated we would need to look through the original version and see whether any updates / changes are required.

Any thoughts on that @Alicia_Fagerving_WMSE or @Lokal_Profil ?

I think this merits a discussion concerning

1. what parts need to be updated (both in regards to tooling, maybe more focus should be put on OpenRefine instead of Pattypan)
2. whether the format - having it in our wiki - is still appropriate considering we're developing wikilearn courses as well

Thinking about the wikilearn courses, I don't think they should replace the guide. The guide contains a lot of detailed information and is also easier to use as a reference work.

See the note about translation / update in T342350#11643904. Obviously a general update would be necessary first. So it does not make sense to start translating it before that is evaluated and done.
