In order for the Event Platform backend to accept events in this stream, the stream now needs to be added to the wgEventStreams and wgEventLoggingStreamNames config variables. For more details, see wikitech:Event Platform/Stream Configuration.

Since this is work for the engineers, I think it shouldn't be in the analytics project.

@nshahquinn-wmf Can you look at Santhosh's comments on: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/704456 and review patch too?

[operations/mediawiki-config@master] Add stream configuration for ContentTranslation events
Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-operations) [2021-07-27T11:10:10Z] <lucaswerkmeister-wmde@deploy1002> Synchronized wmf-config/InitialiseSettings.php: Config: [[gerrit:704456|Add stream configuration for ContentTranslation events (T281982)]] (duration: 00m 58s)
Since the config change was deployed, we've been receiving about 14 events per day in the database. All are from either Test Wiki or Bangla Wikipedia, and all have event_type dashboard_open with event_source direct and translation_type section.
As far as I know, this is exactly what we expect based on the very early state of the instrumentation and the limited deployment of section translation.
