Improve discoverability of talk pages for editors
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Background
Based on our user research on usertesting.com, new users have trouble discovering talk pages.

Talk pages is a great pathway into understanding the mechanics and policies of editing an article. However, based on our Google Play store feedback, one of the strengths of the Android app is our reading interface, and users do not always want to see editing tools when in an reading interface.

User Story
When passively reading Wikipedia, I want to easily know that I can discuss edits to an article when I encounter an error without being too distracted by the discussion so that my edits have a higher chance of being productive and not reverted and I can continue to enjoy quality content on Wikipedia.

The Task
Create low fidelity screens that explore the following:

  • A discussion bubble nested in the article (T298814)
  • Mobile optimized variations of the Mobile Web and desktop version (future and current state)
  • Exposing some of the active discussions at the bottom of the article
  • Evaluate if we want CTAs and entry points to live in the edit pencil
