Request membership in extension-SimpleSAMLphp group for members of the bluespice group
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

  • Gerrit group: bluespice
  • The Gerrit repository or repositories to which access is required: extension-SimpleSAMLphp
  • Reason:

Robert Vogel has been a significant contributor to the SimpleSAMLphp extension. Cindy Cicalese had been the primary maintainer of the extension, but Robert has taken on more of the responsibility in the last several years. Since Cindy no longer has an active SAML production environment to maintain, it makes sense for Robert to transition to being the primary maintainer of the extension. Robert is a member of the privileged bluespice group. I believe this should be covered by https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Privilege_policy#Expedited_process_for_trusted_organisations.

Event Timeline

@thcipriani : Do you know who might be willing (and decisive) to follow Gerrit-Privilege-Requests? I'm afraid there might be a bit of a bottleneck here...

Legoktm claimed this task.
Legoktm subscribed.

I believe this should be covered by https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Privilege_policy#Expedited_process_for_trusted_organisations.

That policy is for adding or removing people to those groups, not granting those groups permissions.

Anyways, it's been a week and no one has said anything and the request is from the current maintainer, so {{done}}.

Rereading the latter paragraphs of that section, that make sense, although the first sentence says requests "for the granting and revocation of related groups", which could be read more broadly (i.e. granting a group access to an extension). But, if that section is not intended to apply to that situation, that leaves open the question of what the policy is or should be for requesting granting permissions to groups. Is that adequately covered elsewhere in the documentation and I missed it?

And, thank you very much for acting on the request! :-)

I tried to clarify that with https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?diff=5038295&oldid=5017672&title=Gerrit%2FPrivilege_policy&type=revision

It's not explicitly stated, but historically requests for groups to be given +2 rights have just been processed as normal individual +2 requests are, e.g. T298277.
