T302326 made it so people do NOT have the ability to decide what DiscussionTools features are and are not available to them when using mobile talk pages.
This task represents the work involved with enabling people to decide what DiscussionTools features are available to them when using mobile talk pages by introducing a single, or potentially set of, settings available to them on the mobile version of the site.
User story
As a Senior Contributor who has developed a set of workflows for using mobile talk pages that pre-date the introduction of DiscussionTools, I want to be able to decide what DiscussionTools feature are/are NOT shown when using mobile talk pages, so that I can complete wiki work in the ways that are most natural to me.
Approaches
- Approach #1: Show mobile DT settings within Special:Preferences
- Notes
- Senior Contributors might not intuitively look for these would-be settings within Special:Preferences considering many of the settings shown there are not relevant to/do not impact peoples' mobile experience. Thus, Senior Contributors are likely NOT to have developed the habit of looking in Special:Preferences to adjust how the mobile site looks/behaves.
- Notes
- Approach #2: Evolve Special:MobileOptions to accommodate additional mobile DiscussionTools settings
- Notes
- Depending on the number of settings we need to introduce (e.g. one settings for all mobile DT features, one setting for each mobile DT feature), we might need to propose a new design for Special:MobileOptions.
