This task represents the work with enabling the New Topic Tool as an opt-out feature on desktop at de.wiki.

As a result of this deployment, the New Topic Tool should be available at all Wikimedia wikis by default on desktop except fi.wiki and ru.wiki.

Wednesday, 10 August 2022 (assuming a member of the Editing is available)

Requirements

• People who meet the criteria below will see the New Topic Tool upon clicking an Add topic / New section link on a page where DiscussionTools are available:
  • People who are logged in or logged out
  • People accessing any wikis listed below using the desktop version of the site:
    • All Wikimedia wikis EXCEPT fi.wiki and ru.wiki

Testing instructions

At de.wiki, visit a talk page as an existing user, a new user, a logged out user, and:

1. Click the Add topic / New section button
2. Verify the New Topic Tool appears
3. Document what mode –Source or Visual – you saw in "Step 2."
