Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue:

What happens:
Summaries say "Ortografía corregida", "Yazım hatası düzeltildi", "Corretto errore di battitura", etc.

What should have happened instead:
The summaries are in the same language as the site.

Alternatively:

Steps to replicate the issue:

  • Open Android app
  • Select a Wikipedia in a language different from the device interface
  • Select an article
  • Make an edit
  • Select "Next" twice

What happens:
The preset summaries ("Fixed typo", "Fixed grammar", "Added links") are in the same language as your device.

What should have happened instead:
The summaries are in the same language as the site.

This negatively affects volunteers' ability to review edits made via the app and, in turn, the app users may face negative treatment (accusation of lacking proficiency required to edit and collaborate) as a result of simply using the feature.

If the user can understand and edit the site, they should also be able to understand and write summaries in the same language.

Those screenshots appear to be correct (fixed) behavior. It looks like you're editing Greek and Basque articles, and even though your device language is English, the summary buttons are in the language of the article.
