Description

Steps to reproduce

Launch app while on iOS system light mode, set reading theme to Default
Background app, switch iOS system mode to Dark
Return to app

Expected results

App should automatically switch to dark mode upon foreground

Actual results

App does not automatically switch to dark mode upon foreground

Environments observed

App version: 7.3.0 (latest on main branch. Notably I do not see this in versions 7.2.2 or earlier.)
OS versions: 16.5
Device model: iPhone 12 Pro Max
Device language: EN

Hi. Since version 7.3, the app no longer seems to apply the system light or dark mode setting until the app is force closed and re-opened (or unless the Default theme is reapplied/tapped in Settings). In 7.2, the theme would match the iOS system setting without having to force close the app.

I’m experiencing a bug where the appearance doesn’t change to match system theme automatically even if it is set to. I.e. The app will stay stuck on dark mode even after my system theme has gone into light mode.

I use the automatic light/dark mode switching feature of iOS. Since the last Wikipedia app update, I’ve noticed that the app is in light mode when my device is in dark mode, and vice versa. Occasionally the app will be in the correct appearance, but the majority of the time it’s in the opposite one from the current device mode. This occurs on my iPhone and iPad both running iOS 16.5.

Hello, has there been any progress on this bug report ? Issue is still occurring in v 7.3.1 (iOS TestFlight Beta). (iOS 17.0 DB 2; iPhone).
