Create links to incorporate ACH into Banners and Emails
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

FRTech, can we create links to hand ACH over to the online team to incorporate into Banners including ACH recurring.

@Pcoombe Can we also include ACH in Ways to give page payment forms.

Event Timeline

Hi @EMartin, here are some test links adding ACH to donatewiki forms. Can you confirm these look as desired? Then I'll put them on the live forms

Annual fund: https://donate.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:LandingPage&country=US&uselang=en&form-countryspecific=Form-countryspecific-sandbox
Endowment: https://donate.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:LandingPage&country=US&uselang=en&form-countryspecific=Form-countryspecific-sandbox&utm_medium=endowment

We don't have any US banners until July so will wait until closer to the time before adding any code for ACH there

@Pcoombe Hi Peter, thanks for the links.

Both worked ok and show up in Adyen as expected and I received thank you pages within minutes.

I had a few comments related to the formatting of ACH that I'd like for us to consider:

  • List Item
  1. Change the button text to read - "Donate via Bank Account (ACH)". vs "ACH" - I don't want to assume donors know what ACH is and think additional clarity will help us. Also, I am trying to get away from using Bank Transfer as a term as often ACH and Wire get lobbed under this umbrella and this also spawns some confusion according to the major gifts team.
  1. Above the routing number and account number fields, is there any opportunity to insert a graphic such as the one attached on the checkout form to provide instructional info for the donor on where to find these numbers on their check? It's typical to see this in ACH checkout flows and again, the additional clarity may help us.

  1. Below the account and routing # fields, could we also add language such as this to guide the donor on the character count? This may help avoidance of the wrong numbers being entered or routing being transposed for acct#:

On another note, I have been speaking to @spatton regarding changes of how / when we present ACH. For instance, have it take the place of Venmo and Gpay in the banner and possibly placing Venmo and Gpay under a "more options" pull down within the banner. You may agree that the banner looks busy with yet another payment method and we thought this could solve for that. Sam's/Online's call but my preference. Furthermore we suggest that if a donor choses to give monthly we lead with ACH to promote this payment type over others within our recurring program. @spatton Please chime in with your thoughts here. Could we propose offering up the payment methods only AFTER the one time or monthly options are selected as discussed and therefore lead with ACH if monthly?

Thanks both for your consideration here.

P.S. Can we also add language as follows at the bottom of the screen for monthly: "I authorize Wikimedia Foundation to electronically debit my account in the amount of $xx.00 on the agreed upon schedule. I understand that a recovery fee may be charged if the payment is dishonored or returned for any reason and that it is my responsibility to retain a copy of this authorization for my records."

Okay, I have updated the buttons to read "Donate via Bank Account (ACH)"

All the payments form changes are jobs for fr-tech, @AKanji-WMF don't know if you want to make a new task(s) or use this one.

Regarding banners, that's definitely under consideration. We're currently working on some testing in Brazil around moving payment methods.
