Reaching the Confirm step through the language selector entry point presents some inconsistencies
Open, MediumPublic

Description

As part of MinT for Wiki Readers MVP (T359072), users are able to access machine translation through different paths. Currently, accessing from the language selector (T363183) leads to some inconsistencies compared to starting form the Home step (T359401) and searching for an article explicitly.

In particular, accessing from the language selector presents the following inconsistencies:

  • For articles with a title containing spaces, these are shown as underscores. Notice the "Bubble_tea" title below.
  • The Cars in the Confirm step does not get the input focus automatically. This, in combination with T364612, makes the UI harder to process visually.

The example below compares the access from the language selector (searching for Bangla) with the direct search of "Bubble tea".
